Empowering Communities – Sweden

I had the opportunity to help set up a maker space in northern Skåne, together with Hässleholm municipality, with the aim of fostering a sense of community in a segregated municipality. This initiative was designed to empower newly arrived immigrants, offering them a space to connect, share experiences, and acquire new skills through hands-on learning and collaboration.

By providing access to tools, resources, and workshops, the maker space became a hub where people from diverse backgrounds came together to explore creativity and innovation. It has played a crucial role in helping individuals integrate into the local community, while also encouraging the exchange of ideas and skills that benefit everyone involved. My role in this project was to ensure the space was not just a workshop, but a platform for building relationships and breaking down social barriers.
